Workflows in Aura allow you to automatically set strategies on a listing based on the age of its inventory (for FBA only). This is useful where more aggressive strategies are needed the longer inventory ages.
Here’s how to effectively set up a Workflow to handle this for you:
Step 1:
On the Workflows page, click “Add Workflow” in the upper right hand corner:
Step 2:
Once in the Workflow builder, click “Add Event” to dictate when this Workflow will run.
For an Age of Inventory Workflow, we’ll need to select “Schedule”, then click “Continue”.
Step 3:
Set the Schedule cadence based on how frequently you’d like Aura to check for inventory age progression. We recommend the Every Hour event being the highest frequency option.
Select which day(s) of the week this Workflow will run. To allow this Workflow to run continuously 24/7, leave the default set to 7 days a week.
Click “Add” to set the Schedule cadence, then click “Continue” in the upper right hand corner.
Step 4:
Begin building the Workflow Actions by adding the initial Filter Block. Here, we’ll use a combination of Filter Blocks and Action Blocks to achieve this Workflow filtering by inventory age, then assigning the desired strategy.
In order for this Workflow to identify which strategies to assign to which listings at a certain time, we’ll need to first add a Filter Block. Click the Plus icon to add your first block.
Select Filter Block from the selection, and click “Continue”.
Here, we’ll select “Filter by Age of Inventory”. With Workflow blocks running consecutively top to bottom, we’ll begin by filtering only those listings with >0 units of inventory between 0-30 days old.
Click “Add” to apply the Filter Block.
Step 5:
With the initial Filter Block added to filter only those listings with at least 1+ unit(s) between 0-30 days old, we’ll now need to add an Action Block to assign the strategy to these filtered listings.
Click the Plus icon again to now add an Action Block.
Now, instead of adding a Filter Block, we’ll select a Set Strategy Action Block. This Action will be filtered by the Age of Inventory Filter Block, and will only apply to those with at least 1+ unit(s) between 0-30 days old.
Select Set Strategy from the selection, and click “Continue”.
Next, we’ll select which strategy will be assigned to listings with 0-30 day old inventory. Following our Core Three Strategies guide, we recommend assigning a Level 1 strategy (Maven) to younger inventory, such as those 0-30 days old.
Select the desired strategy, and click “Add”.
Here, there will be a Filter Block followed by a Set Strategy Action in this Workflow.
In order for the Filter Block to take effect on the Action Block beneath it, we’ll need to nest the Action Block underneath the Filter Block above it.
Click the 6 dots on the left end of the Action Block, and drag it (as if indenting the whole block) slightly to the right, and release the click.
Step 6:
Repeat steps 4 and 5 for each Age of Inventory Filter you’d like this Workflow to assign a Strategy to.
Each inventory age grouping will need both a Age of Inventory Filter, followed by a nested Set Strategy Action Block underneath it. When applying each Age of Inventory Filters, be sure to add these consecutively (0-30d inventory followed by 31-60d, then 61-90d, etc.).
This is what three different levels of Strategies and Age of Inventory Filters will look like once consecutively added to the Workflow:
Once each set of Filters and Actions have been added, click “Continue” in the upper right hand corner to name and save the Workflow.
Step 7:
Name the Workflow, and click “Finish” in the upper right hand corner to save it.
Optional:
To further filter listings to be set by the Workflow, such as those only on an existing Strategy or included in a specific Marketplace, an additional Filter Block can be set at the very top of the Workflow.
Each Age of Inventory Filter Block and Set Strategy Action Block will then be further nestled under this new Filter Block, and will only take effect on listings filtered by the very first Filter Block:
