Workflows are not currently available for Walmart listings so they will only apply to your Amazon listings and marketplace.
As your inventory ages, it is essential to adjust your assigned strategies to become more aggressive and avoid being hit by Amazon's storage fees.
To automate this process, you'll want to set up an age of inventory workflow for your listings.
It is recommended to keep inventory-age workflows separate from other workflows to avoid conflicts and simplify management. This ensures that age-based workflows operate independently without interfering with other strategies.
This Workflow works like a personal assistant, monitoring your listings on a schedule (for example, every hour) and updating listing strategies once they hit the time limit you choose.
Inventory age in Aura starts counting when a unit is officially checked in at Amazon and marked as fulfillable. This data is received directly from Seller Central via SP-API, and serves as the starting point for inventory age tracking.
First, create a new Workflow that triggers on a schedule at a time interval of your choice. We recommend using the 1 hour trigger as that is the option with the highest frequency.
Next, add a Filter block and choose Filter by age of inventory. You can then set your criteria based on the specific number of units that are aging or a percentage of the total inventory for that listing.
You can also combine multiple filters, such as "Filter by Strategy" alongside "Inventory Age," to target listings that meet both criteria. For example, you might exclude certain ASINs from a liquidation strategy while filtering by inventory age.
You can have this apply to one or multiple age ranges by checking the boxes next to each age range.
Additionally, you can view inventory age groupings on the Listings table in Aura to see unit counts in age buckets (e.g., 90–180 days). For FBA listings, similar data is available in Amazon Seller Central.
Lastly, add the Set strategy action and choose which strategy these listings should update to (e.g., a more aggressive strategy) and make sure that it's nested as shown below.
Ensure that the "Set Strategy" action block is nested under the appropriate filter block. Dragging the action block to the right ensures it applies only to listings that meet the filter criteria.
To avoid conflicts between workflows, ensure that the inventory-age Workflow is scoped to specific strategies. For example, a "New Listing" Workflow might assign a strategy to a newly created listing, but an inventory age-based Workflow could later override it. Carefully configure Workflows to prevent overlapping actions and unintended strategy changes.
This will have Aura automatically adjust your strategy when the number of units or percentage of inventory enter your selected age range.
Aura’s inventory age-based Workflows follows Amazon's FIFO (First-In, First-Out) principle. This means the active strategy is determined by the oldest inventory. For instance, if older units are in the 60–90 day window and assigned to Core Strategy #2, the strategy will remain on #2 until those units sell through. Newly received units will not switch to Core Strategy #1 until they become the oldest active inventory.
